It can be very difficult to motivate yourself, especially if you have no clear plan but you know that you want to achieve more. If you want to give yourself a bit of a kick and get going, here are some of the things that may help you to feel like you can take on the world.
1. Come Up With Some Goals
This is one of the best things for getting yourself going and helping you to feel like you have certain things to achieve. You should set yourself SMART goals – these are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound. These are goals that are easy to look back on and think about whether or not you have achieved them. You should also make goals which are easy to look at throughout the time period and measure how close or how far you are to achieving them. I love the book 12 Week Year by Brian Moran and Michael Lennington
2. Do Something
You have to be a certain type of person to just go for it and start doing something, but if you have the confidence and you believe in yourself enough, start something you want to do even if you don’t feel like you have the motivation just yet. Some people believe that motivation comes from just doing things and then letting the energy catch up with you. Like that pile of laundry you have sitting on your bed. No one feels like dealing with that pile, but the motivation to crawl into your bed will give you the start you need to get it done!
3. Think About The People Around You
Are you spending time with people who are motivated or is your time spent with those who would rather do nothing? The people you hang around with can have a huge influence on your life, and if you are talking to them about your plans and goals but they don’t seem to be very supportive of you, it could be time to cut some ties or at least become less involved with certain people.
Like the good old saying goes, “You become who you hang out with loving, kind, compassionate, brilliant, passionate, alive and giving people” ~ all-greatquotes.com
4. Find Things That Give You Energy
Does nature inspire you and motivate you to do more or to become a better person? Are you motivated by certain music or playlists? Does a particular author make you think about your life and wish you could be somebody more positive or successful? Find the things that motivate you and focus your attention on these. 5. Stay Tidy and Organized
Whether it’s your space at work, your bedroom or your kitchen area, staying organized can help you to feel more motivated to do things and achieve more. It might be time for a spring/fall clean if you’re feeling a little down! If you’re anything like me, when my living space is cluttered or up in a mess – I just want to find the cleanest corner and hide in it. My space is a clear reflection of how productive (or non) I can be.
